Water Temperature And Speed Of Diesel Generator Set

The water temperature requirements of diesel generators are clearly defined, but some operators prefer to adjust the outlet water temperature very low, some close to the lower limit of the outlet water temperature, and some are less than the lower limit. They think that the water temperature is low, there will be no cavitation in the pump, the cooling water (liquid) will not be interrupted, and there is an insurance factor in use. In fact, as long as the water temperature does not exceed 95 °C, cavitation will not occur, and the cooling water (liquid) will not be interrupted. On the contrary, if the water temperature is too low, it is extremely harmful to the work of diesel engines.

1.       The temperature is low, the combustion conditions of the diesel in the cylinder are deteriorated, the fuel atomization is poor, the ignition period is increased after the fire, the engine work is rough, the damage of the crankshaft bearing, the piston ring, and other components is aggravated, the power is reduced, and the economy is lowered.

2.       The water after combustion is condensed on the cylinder wall, causing corrosion of the metal.

3.       Burning diesel may dilute the oil, making the lubrication worse.

There are only two kinds of speeds for normal diesel generator sets: one is 1500 rpm, and the other is 1800 rpm. If the speed of the generator is turned down or raised artificially, it is wrong behavior. The unit user should strictly follow the operation manual when using it, and must not manually adjust the parameters of the diesel generator set.
