Adjustment of oil pressure of diesel generator sets

There are two general lubrication methods for diesel generators:Pressure lubrication and splash lubrication. During the operation of the diesel generator, the oil pressure is too low or too high will affect the lubrication quality of the diesel engine. Therefore, the diesel engine must control the oil pressure within the specified range when working. The oil pressure of the non-supercharged diesel engine is generally controlled at 0.25 to 0.35 MPa (2.5 to 3.5 kgf/cm2), and the oil pressure of the supercharged diesel engine should be controlled at 0.35 to 0.45 MPa (3.5 to 4.5 kgf/cm2). No matter what type of diesel engine is started after 1min, if the pointer of the oil pressure gauge is observed to change, it should be stopped quickly for inspection. After identifying the cause and troubleshooting, restart the diesel engine and observe the change in the pointer of the oil pressure gauge.

During the process of diesel generator from low speed to rated speed, the oil pressure should gradually increase. After the diesel generator reaches the rated speed, the oil pressure slowly returns to the specified value. If the oil pressure cannot be restored to the specified value within 20 minutes, the oil pressure is adjusted. The diesel engine is equipped with a pressure regulating valve on the side of the oil filter, remove the nut, loosen the lock nut, and turn the adjusting bolt with a screwdriver. When the screwing in, the oil pressure rises; when it is screwed out, the oil pressure is lowered. After adjustment, tighten the nut. It is important to note that if the oil pressure is still too low after adjustment, the quality of the oil pan and oil should be checked.
